Warm and Windy for Denton...

I’ve just returned from a short Easter vacation, but I didn’t miss any exciting weather nor did I experience any while I was away.

Warm and windy weather will be on tap for Denton for the remainder of the week. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for today as winds will be gusting at times up to 30mph – mainly this afternoon.

The humidity will be on the increase through the weekend. So I expect it to feel even more like Spring as we get a bit sticky. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend. This chance is a slight one and it seems that an even better chance will come early next week.

We are in what is known as a “zonal flow”. This means that the upper level winds (jetstream) will mainly flow in a west to east pattern without too much change to the north or south. However, when we get into a zonal flow pattern there are occasional disturbances that move along the flow (causing a northward or southward kink) and trigger the development of fronts or move the dryline. A couple of those disturbances will be the culprit behind the chances of rain over the weekend and next week.

Have a great Wednesday everyone.
