Severe Weather Threat Will Continue Overnight...

Tornado watch expired, but the SPC has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 4am that includes the Denton area and southward. An organized area of thunderstorms, some severe, are coalescing to the southwest of north Texas. There are still storms forming nearly due west of the area but not making much eastward progression. The thunderstorm system (known as an MCS - Mesoscale Convective System) developing to our southwest will move in a north northeastward direction and may affect our area after midnight. MCS’s can produce copious amounts of rain along with strong wind gusts and hail. We will most likely be on the northern edge of this system.
